About Steven Helgoth

When you study with Steven Helgoth, you will be gaining insights from some of the most prestigious old-school acting teachers of all time. Steven has studied with Uta Hagen (a student of Stanislavski herself) who has taught the likes of Sigourney Weaver, Liza Minelli, and Jack Lemon, just to name a few. Along with Uta Hagen, Steven has also taken classes with Academy Award-winning actresses Sandy Dennis and Geraldine Page. He soaked up all the knowledge he could from actor, director, and teacher Jeff Corey, whose alumni includes James Dean, Jane Fonda, and Jack Nicholson. He continues their legacies by teaching the craft of acting the way they did.

Steven has directed over 150 off-off Broadway plays in New York City as well as countless productions in Los Angeles. He has served as the artistic director for many theaters, and has produced many award-winning shows. He currently runs the Underground Theater in Hollywood.

Expanding on his numerous passions, Steven formed Helgoth and Associates Casting in 1998. He began casting film and television and now has over twenty casting credits to his name, including the Academy Award-winning short film ‘West Bank Story’.

After finding success in casting, Steven turned his focus and creativity to developing his own original content, forming the production company Cinekat Filmworks. Cinekat has since produced several feature films, shorts, and series.

Steve has been passing on his knowledge to acting students for years. His old-school, no-nonsense training approach is something you won’t find anywhere else in Los Angeles. His former students have gone on to be featured in many television shows and movies, including Natalia Livingston, who won a Daytime Emmy for her role on ‘General Hospital’.
